An underwater world just for kids
Children as young as eight and nine will love their first diving experience on the reef surrounding Six Senses Laamu with the "Bubblemaker" course. We offer special equipment for children, with lighter tanks and smaller sized wetsuits, masks and fins.
The dive instructor will meet you on the beach and give you an introduction to diving. Two children are assigned per instructor, so two siblings or friends can join and have fun together. This first diving course lasts about two hours and the maximum depth reached is two meters.
The house reef is home to many colorful coral and fish, such as trumpet fish and parrotfish and also to some fish celebrities such as Dory (Blue Tang fish) and Nemo (Clown fish). Even at this depth, there is also the chance to spot our resident turtles.
Children can learn more about the marine life of the Laamu reefs and conservation during environmental activities at the Den. But don’t worry this is playtime not school time! Our Resident Marine Biologists share fun facts about turtles, dolphins, groupers, reef fish and more, and there are plenty of games along the way. The Manta Trust also visits the Den once a week so you can discover the ocean life of manta rays via video.
For those who wish to remain on the surface, snorkeling on the house reef with mom and dad is always fun. And the all-time favorite experience, aside from the ice cream, is a picnic on a deserted island for the whole family, where everyone can enjoy walks on the sandy beach, watching the crabs scavenge for food and snorkeling on the colorful and lively reef beyond.

Omani dhow cruise experience
For an unforgettable vacation experience, set sail in our ‘Dhahab’, an Omani dhow cruiser handcrafted in 2013 to reflect the sailing vessels famously used in the region by Arabic voyagers of yesteryear. Inspired by the word Dhahab, which means ‘gold’ in Arabic, the dhow’s homely splendor and unique design is coupled with all the modern comforts. From bow to stern, this beautifully carved cruiser is furnished in the artisan style reminiscent of the villa décor at Six Senses Zighy Bay.
Comfortable for a cruise of four to six, Dhahab is able to host guests in a spacious king bed cabin and two twin bed cabins on the lower ground deck. The king bed cabin offers a large bathroom equipped with oval bathtub, picturesque moonlight windows, spacious shower room, twin vanities, writing desk and a lounging sofa in a reading corner that could even be set-up for an additional guest.
Taking in the most scenic views of Musandam’s rugged landscape, you’ll cruise along the bays of Haffa, Sanat, Lima, Khor Kabahl and Khor Habaleen. The cerulean blue waters of the coves along the Musandam peninsula are likened to the fjords of Norway and the Galapagos islands, offering unsurpassed peace along a magnificent coastline of dramatic stark cliffs created by the Hajar Mountains towering over quaint fishing villages.
Whether relaxing on the upper decks, enjoying a movie in the private lounge, sun bathing, swimming, kayaking or snorkeling, the crew will ensure a seamless experience throughout your odyssey. If you still can’t get enough of the sea, you can book a bespoke diving experience … or come ashore for a well-earned wellness massage after your day of adventure.

Meet baby turtles in Con Dao
Green sea turtles return to the beaches in Con Dao to lay their eggs from May to September. Guests at Six Senses Con Dao can join a nightly tour to the nesting grounds to experience this natural spectacle first hand through the Turtle Nesting & Release program.
There are around thirteen beaches around the islands where green turtles come to nest, but only one beach has nighttime access. Guided trips depart by speedboat to Bay Canh Island where you wait at the Ranger Station. When a female turtle comes to nest, the local rangers will guide you to the nest site where you can watch the female as she meticulously lays and covers her eggs. You can then help the rangers collect the eggs and transplant them to a nearby hatchery. Coming into August it is common to see the hatchlings make their way out of the ground and you can assist in releasing them.
From mid-August, the eggs laid by the mother green turtles start to come to the surface. Join one of the early morning trips to release the hatchings as they start their life's journey.
From mid-August to early-November if you’re not a night person, you can join a trip to release baby turtles from the Bay Canh Island Turtle Sanctuary. Trips depart from the resort by speedboat. On Bay Canh you can tour the hatchery and learn about the turtles’ lifecycle. You'll then be given an opportunity to hold the young ones before heading down to the beach and releasing them … if you are fast enough, you can even get into the water and swim with them.
Six Senses Con Dao also supports the local NGO - Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV), which reduces illegal wildlife trafficking. This project helps to improve awareness among locals and tourists about the importance of sea turtle conservation and to eliminate sea turtle trade in Con Dao.
